1. Contact Zero Down Probate:

      Your first step is to call Zero Down Probate.  In the phone conversation you will be informed of a few items of information you need to bring. We just need the date of death and the names and addresses of family members.

2. Prepare an Application:

     At our first meeting, we will prepare an application for probate. We will apply for the appointment of a Personal Representative (Administrator).  The Personal Representative will work with the attorney to resolve the estate. 

3. Gather the Assets:

     We will gather the assets, notify the creditors, and manage the estate.  From this point on, your involvement can be very limited, if you desire, or as involved as you would like.

4. Apply to the Court:

     Once the assets are gathered and the debts are determined we apply to the court to close the estate.  Even if the debts exceed the assets, we ask the court to proportion the payment of the debts solely from the estate assets so that in no event is there an out-of-pocket cost to you. 

5. Estate is Settled and Closed:

     With the approval of the court we pay the creditors and distribute any remaining assets. The Personal Representative signs any deeds or titles necessary to distribute the property and the estate is closed.
